At the request of Dr Kelsey (a Reader at the University of St Andrews and one of the founding members of St Andrews Berwick Rangers Supporters) Bear Claw brewery from Spittal in Berwick upon Tweed have been approached in order to commission a keg or perhaps two kegs of beer for our works annual Christmas party. We like to support small local concerns and enjoy the Bear Claw beer often having a pint or two in the Curfew bar when we are in town for the football. Why not local to St Andrews? St Andrews have 2 local breweries, Eden brewery and St Andrews Brew co. We have purchased from both of these companies over the last few years and they have now grown significantly is size since they started. Eden brewery now have a distillery for gin and is very popular. St Andrews brew co have their own pub in the town and again are doing very well. Bear Claw is still a small nano brewery that regularly brew seasonal beers and one-off speciality batches. So just the thing we are after. Rikki the brewer will be in touch with options and we will decide what type we want, although we will give the 9.7% ales a miss I think, that would end in disaster! There should be 3 or 4 members of St Andrews Berwick Rangers Supporters in Berwick for the Food and Beer festival in September and we will catch up with Bear Claw then to place our order that we can hopefully collect at the start of December when we are at the Berwick Rangers v Stirling Albion game. Dr Kelsey in his Sunday best.Comments are closed.
