It's a very wet day and i'm attending the Trust meeting to see what it's about and have a glimpse at some of the workings of the club. I've been a Trust member for 2 years now and St Andrews Berwick Rangers Supporters have also recently joined. I don't know if I can offer any help but if I can I will.
The Trust was Formed in 2003, the ‘Berwick Rangers Supporters Society’ (to give it its official name) and boasts over 240 active members – more than half of the football club’s core support. They exist to promote football in the local community and to secure the long term future of Berwick Rangers Football Club. The trust have donated over £50,000 since their inception and are now one of the largest shareholders in BRFC. The trust also supply detailed match reports on Facebook and twitter, this is a great service and helps supporters keep in touch with the club.
The meeting place.
The meetings take place in the pilot inn, A place I have already visited on my travels with Dr Kelsey and Dr Baxter when we were down for a game, as I recall we had a bit of a pub crawl that day. The next bit of information is lifted directly from the Supporters Trust website. Owned by Supporters Trust member, Steven Scott or ‘Spadge’, the Pilot offers a real home from home. They are proud members of CAMRA and always have at least three Real Ales on tap. Bar meals are available 7 days a week and a warm welcome is especially extended to all Berwick Rangers fans and supporters of visiting teams. You will receive 10% of an accommodation booking if you mention the Supporters Trust.
The meeting itself.
I was given some membership cards, car stickers and pin badges to give out to the members of St Andrews Berwick Rangers Supporters before the start of the meeting. The meeting itself went well I thought, discussing matters relating to the Trust and the football club as you would expect. I'm not sure if it went on longer than usual due to my presence but overall it was informative meeting. I hope I contributed something and didn't annoy anybody. By the end of the meeting I was a committee member, I'm not sure what that really entails but I will endeavour to assist if I possibly can. I think gathering a few thing as raffle prizes wouldn't be outwith my grasp but I'll need to give it some thought. I'll attend the next meeting and see where it goes from there.
